MIIT and eight other ministries issued a '15th Five-Year' development plan for
the intelligent connected new-energy vehicle (NEV) industry, seeking stronger
economic and social benefits and further cementing the auto sector as a pillar
of China’s economy. The plan targets achieving carbon peak before 2030, directs
accelerated green, low-carbon transformation across the auto supply chain, and
states that vehicles equipped with autonomous driving systems will have safety
performance far exceeding human drivers.
