China State Planner said that since the Aug 28 domestic refined fuel price
adjustment the U.S.-Iran conflict has escalated and international crude oil has
risen sharply. To blunt the impact on domestic markets, and within the existing
pricing mechanism, authorities applied temporary controls. Under the mechanism,
Sept 11 standard-grade gasoline and diesel prices would have risen by 435
yuan/ton and 420 yuan/ton respectively; the actual increases implemented were
limited to 260 yuan/ton for gasoline and 250 yuan/ton for diesel.
