As of the close on Sept. 11 Beifang Copper shares hit the daily down limit, closing at 14.74 yuan, down 10.01%. The company said the fall was partly linked to weaker international copper prices. Beifang’s main product is cathode copper; it owns small-scale mines but relies on externally purchased feedstock, mainly from large traders under long-term supply contracts. The company said it is interested in acquiring overseas mines but has no concrete targets and that current valuations are high.

Economists say the print increases the case for a Fed rate hike on Sept. 16; a Fed-watched gauge of the share of categories with rising prices did not retreat. U.S. stock futures held gains after the release; the S&P 500 opened up about 0.9% and the 2‑yr yield, after touching the highest level of 2024 earlier, was roughly flat at 4.59%.
