UK GDP rose 0.4% in July month-on-month, following a 0.3% increase in June and beating the market consensus of 0.0%, the ONS said. It is the third consecutive month of outperformance and could challenge expectations of a sharp slowdown in H2 2026, improving prospects for a stronger Q3. By sector, services output grew 0.4%—led by computer programming and AI-related firms—industrial production rose 0.2% and construction was up 0.1%; activity remained broadly resilient despite a sharp rise in household energy bills.
