On the 12th at the opening of the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai, the National Natural Science Foundation launched a major Yangtze River Delta basic-research joint fund. The program, part of Shanghai’s expansion of its international science and technology innovation centre to the Yangtze River Delta, will target major regional strategic needs and back application‑oriented basic research. It prioritises industry‑driven problem‑setting and will pilot a collaborative model across three provinces and one municipality featuring unified funding, joint topic selection, shared management and coordinated project responses.

On Sept. 11 the Beijing Stock Exchange said it has restricted trading in three investors' securities accounts for three months after finding they privately acquired shares during new-issue subscriptions and used fixed fees or profit-sharing arrangements to lock in returns and transfer risk. The exchange said the deals bypassed authorized trading venues, disrupted new-issue allocation order and violated rules requiring publicly issued securities to trade on established exchanges. The self-regulatory sanctions are presented as a signal of tougher enforcement to protect market fairness and investor rights.
