The US Embassy in Beirut said the Israel-Lebanon framework agreement is the only mechanism to restore the two countries' sovereignty. It said the next round of Lebanon-Israel talks will be held in October in Rome, where the ambassador will discuss continued implementation of the framework.

Voting began in Sweden's parliamentary election on the morning of the 13th. The ballot will determine composition of the 349-seat Riksdag and shape the next government's policy direction. Swedish Radio's final pre-election poll published on the 12th showed the Social Democrats leading on 28.6% support, the Sweden Democrats—widely considered far-right—on 18.3%, and incumbent Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's Moderates on 16.8%. Sweden holds parliamentary elections every four years.

Yemen government forces said on Sept. 13 that a month-long conflict with Houthi fighters in western coastal areas and nearby islands has resulted in about 2,000 government casualties and more than 1,000 Houthi fatalities, with several thousand wounded. Yemen Republic TV cited a National Resistance Forces statement saying the casualties occurred between Aug. 9 and Sept. 10. The statement said the fighting began after Houthi missile and drone strikes on National Resistance positions and spread from southern Hodeidah along the Red Sea coast into neighboring Taiz province.
