National Health Commission director Lei Haichao said at a State Council Information Office briefing on Sept. 14 that China will add 1,000 community health centers and township hospitals offering pediatric diagnosis and treatment this year, on top of last year’s level. He said more than 95% of township hospitals and community health centers are expected to provide pediatric services by year-end. The commission has deployed 3,100 pediatricians to grassroots medical institutions.
