Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing on the 14th
that recent escalation in Yemen and the Red Sea has caused civilian casualties
and damage to energy and other civilian facilities, and that China is deeply
concerned. He called attacks on civilian infrastructure unacceptable, said
regional instability runs counter to all parties' interests and that sovereign
security should be respected. Guo urged relevant parties to exercise restraint,
pursue communication and dialogue, and resolve disputes by political and
diplomatic means to defuse the situation quickly.
