Seasonal demand ahead of Mid‑Autumn and National Day and cooler weather have
pushed Chinese beef consumption higher, lifting both volumes and prices. A meat
company in Binzhou, Shandong said beef tenderloin prices have moved from roughly
90 yuan/kg to above 100 yuan/kg. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs
monitoring shows nationwide beef at 75.73 yuan/kg in the second week of
September, up 0.5% MoM, 7.2% YoY and 6.1% year‑to‑date. Falling beef‑cattle
stocks are tightening supply; a farm in Shahe, Xingtai (Hebei) with about 450
head recently sold ~30 head and reports per‑head profits of 2,000–2,500 yuan. A
researcher at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development, Chinese
Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Yang Chun, says higher international cattle
prices in 2026 combined with peak‑season domestic demand point to further upside
in beef prices.
