MOFCOM and seven other ministries issued an Action Plan to Promote Smart Home Consumption directing promotion of household service robots, health-monitoring devices and intelligent care products tailored for the elderly. The plan instructs firms to adopt age-friendly designs covering product dimensions, ease of operation, dialect recognition and safety, and to expand supply of age-adapted smart-home products and home-renovation services. It also calls for establishing certification for silver-age/elder-friendly smart-home products.

Elon Musk’s Terafab is accelerating semiconductor equipment procurement. In Q2 it moved large front-end orders forward with ASML, Applied Materials, Lam Research and Tokyo Electron; procurement in H2 will progressively shift to packaging and other back-end equipment. South Korea’s Hanmi Semiconductor has won an order from Terafab for AI-system semiconductor packaging equipment, becoming the first Korean supplier in Terafab’s back-end supply chain; contract value, quantities and delivery timing were not disclosed. Terafab now targets first production in 2029, later than prior reports of trial runs end-2027 and mass production in 2028.
