NBS spokesperson Fu Linghui said three factors are driving faster import growth
this year: global industrial and technological innovation has raised China’s
demand for upstream raw materials and intermediate goods as the country remains
a central node in global manufacturing and supply chains; expanding domestic
market demand amid broadly stable economic activity and continued rapid
industrial production; and policy-driven import expansion—orderly opening-up and
international expos such as the China International Import Expo, consumer expo
and supply‑chain expo—that ease foreign goods’ access to China.
