On Sept. 14 at the opening of the IAEA’s 70th General Conference in Vienna,
China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and the International Atomic Energy
Agency signed a cooperation agreement on high-temperature gas-cooled reactors
(HTGRs). The agreement covers R&D, design, construction, commissioning,
operation, supply-chain collaboration and workforce training, and provides for
sharing China’s HTGR engineering experience internationally to support
deployment in power generation, industrial heat and hydrogen production in
low-carbon applications.
