Shanghai M&A Private Investment Fund Phase III has filed with the Asset Management Association of China (AMAC) and commenced investing. First-close size is RMB 900 mln; Guotai Haitong’s private-fund subsidiary will serve as fund manager, with large industrial groups, listed companies and financial institutions among LPs. The vehicle will target M&A and equity investments in policy-backed sectors—high-end manufacturing, integrated circuits, new materials, new energy and information technology. The Shanghai M&A Fund franchise, set up with Shanghai government approval in 2014, has completed three phases to date and has deployed more than RMB 5 bln across multiple market-significant M&A deals.
