Deloitte said on Wednesday one in six UK employees have paid out of pocket for
AI tools to assist their work, totaling nearly £1bn a year (about $1.4bn).
Two-thirds of employees reported trying multiple AI tools and almost a quarter
use them daily at work. The survey found employee adoption is outpacing employer
provision. Deloitte partner Paul Lee said generative AI has quickly entered
everyday work but is largely used for basic tasks; firms that gain most will be
those that do more than supply tools and instead guide employee use with clear
objectives and appropriate guardrails.
