China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said China exported 526,000 new-energy vehicles (NEVs) in August 2026, down 5% month-on-month and up 1.3x year-on-year. Jan–Aug NEV exports totaled 3.435 million, up 1.2x year-on-year.

UNHCR said on the 15th that rapidly escalating hostilities along Yemen’s western coast have internally displaced more than 100,000 people and forced thousands to cross the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Djibouti. UNHCR warned further escalation would produce additional internal displacement and cross-border flows. In the past four days over 2,400 people have arrived in Djibouti by boat; more than 60% are women, children or elderly.
