The dollar index (DXY) rose above the 100 level for the first time since Aug. 13.

A 2021 Federal Reserve study covering the Bernanke, Yellen and Powell eras found FOMC press conferences averaged about 54 minutes total, with roughly 10 minutes of opening remarks, about 44 minutes of media Q&A and an average of ~22 questions including follow-ups. A separate Fed study noted press conferences that begin ~30 minutes after the FOMC statement typically run about one hour. Wash's first press conference after taking office in 2026 lasted about 42 minutes; his latest in September ran roughly 28 minutes.

China published a plan to develop Zhongguancun into a world-leading science park, targeting a basically completed, world-leading park by 2030. The plan aims for sustained emergence of globally leading technologies and flagship products, formation of world-class industry clusters with technological leadership, and positioning Zhongguancun as an origin of new industry tracks, a hub for world-class firms, a top global investment destination and a high-level talent center. It calls for concentrated industrial agglomeration, active open innovation, efficient institutional mechanisms, improved infrastructure and a high-quality environment.
