The US Treasury's July TIC report showed net inflows of $83.7bln into US
securities and banking flows. Private inflows totaled $73.5bln and official
inflows $10.2bln. Foreign holdings of US Treasuries rose $38.8bln; foreign
holdings of US long-term securities increased $40.6bln. Foreign holdings of
dollar short-term securities and other custody bonds rose $65.0bln. US
residents' holdings of foreign long-term securities increased $68.5bln. US
banks' net dollar liabilities to foreigners rose $46.6bln in July.
