UN Secretary-General Guterres urged global cooperation to establish safeguards for artificial intelligence ahead of the UN General Assembly high-level week, saying AI’s potential is large but development is outpacing understanding of its risks. He noted some developers have called for pauses or formal safeguards and said governments must take responsibility; because AI and its risks cross borders, isolated, unverifiable and unevenly enforced voluntary pauses will not resolve the problem.

Fed chair Kevin Warsh said the inf trend has failed the test and he sees few factors likely to change that.
