ANTHROPIC launched a beta Life Sciences Verification Program granting teams and institutions access to biology-related AI models. The program opens model usage to life-sciences users and covers MYTHOS 5.1, OPUS 5 and Sonnet 5.

Fed raised rates 25bp in September — the first hike in three years and in line with market expectations. The vote was unanimous (July was 9-3). The dot plot shows a median of two 25bp hikes in 2026 and no hikes in 2027, hawkish versus June projections (June showed one 2026 hike and a 2027 cut) but dovish versus pre-meeting market pricing that had priced four cumulative hikes by June 2027. The statement said the hike will help bring inflation back to the 2% target “more timely.”

Guangzhou secondary-market mortgage-funded share has fallen since June, from 45.08% in June to 38.85% in July and 35.6% in August, indicating a rising share of all-cash buyers, Guangzhou Real Estate Intermediary Association data show. Shenzhen data from Beike Research Institute show all-cash transactions accounted for 25.3% of second-hand home sales in 1H 2026, up 6.3 percentage points YoY. Guangdong housing policy researcher Li Yujia said accumulated savings among long-time city residents now allow full-price purchases and that buyers are using all-cash deals in part to repair household balance sheets when attractive, high-value listings appear.
