CNBC reports sources say Anthropic and OpenAI are pursuing smaller AI
data-center agreements of roughly 20–30 MW as competition for deployment
infrastructure intensifies. Both firms have signed deals for hundreds of
megawatts to gigawatts over the past year, but four sources said they are now
targeting much smaller capacity deals. Anthropic has held talks in the UK and
the Nordics on agreements in this range; two sources said OpenAI has explored
similar small-scale deployments in the Nordics, and one source said both
companies have discussed comparable U.S. deployments.
