Hong Kong published a report on measures to address population ageing,
projecting the 65+ population will rise to 2.74 million by 2046 — over one-third
of residents. The report outlines 73 measures covering elderly healthcare, care
homes, cross‑border elderly care, community and living support, smart eldercare
technology, age‑friendly urban planning, senior transport/leisure/learning,
financial security for the elderly, labour and public-finance implications,
silver‑economy development and end‑of‑life services. The Financial Services and
the Treasury Bureau and relevant policy bureaux will monitor fiscal implications
closely and may introduce measures as required.
