China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued a '15th Five-Year' plan for cultural industry development, defining overall requirements, seven priority tasks and supporting measures, and assigning responsibilities across the culture and tourism system. The plan aims to, by 2030, materially expand industry scale, overall strength and comprehensive returns; strengthen the industry system and innovation capacity; increase supply of higher-quality cultural products; deepen market activity and cultural consumption; and steadily raise international competitiveness and the sector's pillar-role in the economy. It directs culture and tourism authorities at all levels to implement the plan, enhance interagency and vertical coordination, refine working mechanisms and ensure delivery.
