On the evening of Sept. 19, Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National
Security Council, said Tehran has presented seven conditions the US must meet to
open negotiations. Rezaei said Qatar, acting as mediator, has conveyed the
conditions to Washington and is awaiting a response from President Trump. He
said Iran’s demands include an end to all US hostilities against Iran,
unfreezing Iran’s frozen assets and lifting a maritime blockade; Tehran’s
message is that the US has no way out except by accepting these terms if it
seeks to avoid deeper entanglement.
