On the 18th a Spanish government source said, citing National Security Forces deployed in Ceuta, about 10,000 migrants remain stranded in the Spanish enclave. Some have been placed in government reception centres; others are displaced and sheltering in makeshift tents in mountains and on beaches. Ceuta local authorities estimate about 13,000 migrants remain. A large influx from Morocco at the end of July triggered what Spain calls its most severe border migration crisis in years.
