Sept. 21 — Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to the United States at the invitation of U.S. President Trump. Xi will hold in-depth talks with Trump on major issues affecting China–U.S. relations and global peace and development. Guo described reciprocal visits within six months as a historic milestone and said China is willing to work with the U.S. to develop a constructive, strategically stable relationship, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, and properly manage differences.

South Korea's President Lee will visit the US and Mexico Sept 21-27 to attend the UN General Assembly and may meet US President Trump. The potential Lee-Trump meeting coincides with ongoing Seoul-Washington negotiations over details of a $350 bln US investment plan under last year’s trade agreement; talks remain active after Seoul postponed a planned parliamentary briefing on the scheme last week. Lee is due to give a keynote at the UNGA on UN reform and meet UN Secretary-General Guterres. He will travel to Mexico City on Wednesday and hold a summit with President Sheinbaum on Thursday, followed by a joint press conference and the signing of an MoU.
