CITIGROUP analysts say Alibaba could extract further upside from AI-driven growth. CEO Wu Yongming’s target of 20 GW of AI infrastructure by FY2033 could imply external cloud revenue of roughly $160bn, above CITIGROUP’s current $100bn forecast for FY2031. The bank also expects elevated capex in coming years and retains a Buy rating with a HK$189.00 PT.

At the Yunqi Conference on Sept. 22, Qianwen said it will accelerate development of a Personal Agent. Product head Zheng Sishou said the firm’s objective since last year has been to give every user an AI assistant. Leveraging the agentic capabilities of its Qwen 3.8 model series, Qianwen is building a new Personal Agent to deliver continuous, personalized services to 300 million users. The Personal Agent already connects personal health and wealth-management data and its open platform spans more than 20 domains.

KYODO reported a senior Iranian official told the Trump administration Iran would reopen the blocked Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US accepts Iranian demands, including lifting a military blockade of Iranian ports. Tehran plans to use the UN General Assembly in New York to consult mediators on the proposal and says it would also require a US signal to cease military operations around the strait. Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Rezaei said earlier this month that resuming talks requires US acceptance of seven conditions, including lifting the port blockade and unfreezing Iranian assets.
