On Sept. 21 MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO met VDA chairman Müller to discuss
China-Germany auto cooperation and China-EU trade ties. RAIMONDO said China is
not the root cause of EU trade problems and positioned China as a partner for
joint solutions, warning against EU protectionism and market closures that could
prompt global reciprocal restrictions. He said China will pursue auto-sector
issues within the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism under
principles of compliance, balance and non-discrimination, and urged the VDA to
push the German government and European Commission to engage constructively with
China and seek mutually acceptable solutions through dialogue.
