KYODO reported a senior Iranian official told the Trump administration Iran would reopen the blocked Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US accepts Iranian demands, including lifting a military blockade of Iranian ports. Tehran plans to use the UN General Assembly in New York to consult mediators on the proposal and says it would also require a US signal to cease military operations around the strait. Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Rezaei said earlier this month that resuming talks requires US acceptance of seven conditions, including lifting the port blockade and unfreezing Iranian assets.

India's foreign minister Jaishankar held the first joint ministerial meeting with the Visegrad Four (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) on Monday during the UN General Assembly in New York to deepen cooperation and defence ties amid tensions with the United States. Slovakia's foreign minister said the V4 supports India's bid for a permanent UN Security Council seat. Ministers discussed global and regional security, reform of multilateral institutions, and cooperation on space, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges.
