HKEX said it expects to launch an RMB‑denominated, Hong Kong‑settled gold futures contract early next year and will roll out additional RMB‑denominated precious metals and commodity investment products to broaden RMB asset choices. The exchange said many details of a HKMA–CSRC roadmap for fixed‑income and money‑market development drawn up last year have been implemented. HKEX cited the August launch of a 5‑year government bond futures contract as a precedent, noting open interest rose from roughly 900 contracts in the first week to nearly 3,000 and attracted participants from the Middle East, Europe/US and Southeast Asia.
