The UAE Central Bank said on Wednesday it has sanctioned the UAE branch of Iran's Bank Melli, accusing the bank of breaching local laws on money‑laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing. The central bank said it has prohibited all financial transactions between Bank Melli branches operating in the UAE and Iran, including trade finance and funds transfers. The measures were imposed for failure to comply with UAE regulations and legal requirements on AML, CFT and proliferation financing; last month the UAE suspended trade and financial ties with Tehran.

The second meeting of the China‑Uzbekistan law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu on the 23rd, co‑chaired by Politburo member and Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission Secretary Chen Wenqing and Uzbekistan Presidential Security Council Secretary Mahmudov. Chen said China is willing to jointly implement leaders' consensus and fully use the mechanism to strengthen counterpart exchanges between law‑enforcement and security agencies. Both sides agreed to upgrade cooperation and expand joint enforcement against terrorism, separatism and extremism, telecom network fraud, cross‑border gambling and other transnational crime, deepen cybersecurity cooperation and protection of overseas interests, enhance multilateral coordination and promote high‑quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
