Sept. 24 — China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a routine press briefing that Iran's president told the UN General Assembly Iran would not permit freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz while sanctions and a US blockade persist. Guo said prolonged US‑Iran hostilities would not serve the interests of the parties or the international community, and urged all sides to choose peaceful options, resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation, and work to restore peace and stability in the Gulf as soon as possible.

Pantheon Macroeconomics says a U.S. diesel export ban would first hit Latin American and European buyers and would broadly lift global prices. Chief commodities economist David Oxley said any reduction in U.S. diesel flows would remove a key supplemental source that has helped ease current diesel market stress. U.S. diesel export growth this year offset roughly half of supply losses from Russian refinery disruptions and reduced output tied to the Iran conflict. Pantheon estimates a full export ban could further cut seaborne diesel supply by about 30%.
