Four government departments met with major Chinese manufacturers of trucks,
buses, special-purpose vehicles, trailers and motorcycles to brief them on
vehicle product safety and to roll out safety-hazard inspections and supervisory
checks. Regulators flagged recent deficiencies in production consistency and
test verification, and cited illegal modifications and mislabeling of tonnage
and tank capacity that endanger road safety and harm China’s brand image.
Manufacturers were urged to rectify shortcomings, adopt safety-first,
quality-paramount practices and take responsibility for product quality and
public safety.
