On Sept. 24, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China and the U.S. are maintaining communication on arrangements for interactions between their two leaders this year. Asked whether further China‑U.S. trade talks would take place during the APEC finance ministers' meeting in Hong Kong in October and whether Beijing would invite U.S. President Trump to the APEC summit in Shenzhen in November, Guo referred the trade‑talks question to the relevant Chinese authorities and did not confirm any invitation or meeting.
