Australia's S&P/ASX 200 opened down 40.8 points, or 0.47%, at 8,661.20 on Friday, Sept. 25.

The People's Bank of China, in its 2026 report on RMB internationalization, says it will advance RMB internationalization by further improving the institutional framework for cross‑border renminbi use to better meet market demand for transaction settlement, investment and financing, and risk management. It will deepen financial‑market opening, support Shanghai's development as an international financial centre, and back offshore RMB market growth to consolidate Hong Kong's IFC role. The PBOC also flagged plans to strengthen financial infrastructure and to coordinate financial opening with financial stability.
