Goldman Sachs now expects the yen to strengthen to ¥150 per $1 over the next 12 months, reversing a prior bearish view that targeted ¥165. It raised 3-month and 6-month targets to ¥158 and ¥155. The revision reflects faster-than-expected BOJ rate hikes and a higher likelihood of domestic capital repatriation to Japanese assets. Goldman strategist Karen Leischgott Fishman wrote: "These developments jointly increase the attractiveness of long yen, especially if markets begin to worry about recession risk, as the yen can provide some protection."

Palestinian President Abbas, in a video address to the 81st UN General Assembly general debate on the 24th, called for a ceasefire in Gaza and urged the international community to accelerate implementation of a two-state solution based on international law and UN resolutions. He said the Palestinian side welcomes U.S. President Trump’s 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict, accepts UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and a second-phase Gaza ceasefire roadmap, but lamented that none of these measures has been implemented. Abbas said Palestinians need a substantive process to end the illegal occupation and secure freedom and self-determination.
