Shenzhou-23 astronauts Zhu Yangzhu, Zhang Zhiyuan and Li Jiaying, now more than four months in orbit, completed external payload ingress/egress last week while advancing in-station science and routine platform maintenance. The outside universal testbed they handled includes units for an air‑core photonic‑bandgap fiber gyroscope, advanced process devices and a remote‑sensing target‑detection experiment based on domestically produced AI chips. With ground support they recovered a materials exposure experiment unit launched on Tianzhou‑5 on Nov. 12, 2022; that platform ran three batches covering 16 exposure projects and several international firsts and is now on a fourth campaign covering eight research projects with 26 sample units. Onboard work included tactile‑perception tests (quality perception and arm vibration) to study changes in touch sensitivity in microgravity, emergency‑decision capability assessments and on‑orbit mood‑state testing. For station upkeep the crew replaced components in the regenerative life‑support system’s water–gas separator and completed medical checks (12‑lead ECG, non‑invasive cardiac function) and countermeasures against bone loss and neuromuscular decline using anti‑bone‑loss and neuromuscular stimulation devices.
