Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan said China’s comprehensive industrial
base and large consumer market create a broader platform for Hong Kong to
integrate with and serve national development. He flagged artificial
intelligence and related electronics demand as a driver, noting Hong Kong's
overall merchandise export value rose 53% YoY in August and 42.5% in
January–August. Citing the government's economic advisers, Chan said the
administration is confident it will meet its revised full-year GDP growth
forecast of 3.5–4.5%.
