Al Jazeera quoted Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Iran's army chief of staff,
saying the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is "completely under our
control." He said Iranian forces have taken decisive action north of the Sea of
Oman and in the eastern strait and will not allow passage. Sayyari added the
IRGC navy has "full control" west of the strait, the strait itself and the
Persian Gulf, while the regular navy has "full control" east of the strait and
the northern Indian Ocean.
