A cold front produced heavy to torrential rain today in northern Chongqing and
southeastern Shaanxi, with localized rainfall of 100-133 mm in Kaizhou and
Chengkou. Meteorological forecasts project moderate to heavy rain over the next
three days in southern Shaanxi and Chongqing, with some areas seeing heavy to
torrential showers. Under the National Emergency Plan for Geological Disasters,
the Ministry of Emergency Management on Sept 28 activated a national level-4
emergency response for geological disasters in Chongqing and Shaanxi.
