The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on Sept. 28 released the China Fisheries Ecological Environment Bulletin (2025), saying 2025 fisheries resources and aquatic ecological conditions remained stable. A national monitoring network of 48 stations covered four sea regions and major river basins including the Yangtze and Yellow River; authorities conducted fisheries resource surveys and routine monitoring of 18 indicators in 164 key fisheries waters (water quality, sediment, plankton). All monitored waters recorded zinc, lead, mercury and arsenic concentrations below evaluation standards. In key marine fisheries waters, areas exceeding chemical oxygen demand and petroleum limits fell 59.3% and 45.7% respectively; petroleum exceedance areas in inland key fisheries waters fell 34.6%.

China's State Council called for stepped-up countercyclical macro policy to support sustained improvement in the economy and to meet this year's economic and social targets. It ordered faster implementation of existing measures, stronger execution of stock policies, accelerated issuance and deployment of various bonds, expedited start-up of major projects under the 15th Five-Year Plan and the 'Six Networks' implementation plan, prioritized renovation of aging reservoirs and grain stores, and expanded interest-subsidy measures to boost investment and consumption.
