Guo said the root cause is that the political foundation of China-Japan relations has been seriously damaged. He accused current Japanese leaders of failing to reflect on wartime aggression, and of claiming that “a Taiwan contingency would constitute a crisis for Japan’s survival,” openly challenging China’s sovereignty and abandoning the original intent and political commitments of Sino-Japanese normalization. Guo said Tokyo is stoking so‑called “external threats” as a pretext to accelerate remilitarization, thereby challenging the postwar international order and threatening regional peace and stability.
