Chinese shares closed mixed as the Shanghai Composite rose 0.31%, the Shenzhen Component fell 0.11%, ChiNext slipped 0.23% and the STAR 50 tumbled 2.51%. Turnover on the two mainland bourses rose to 1.44 trillion yuan, up 28.8 billion yuan from the prior session. More than 2,500 stocks advanced. CRO and broader biotech names outperformed, with CanSino Biologics hitting the daily limit and multiple contract-research/biotech names also capped gains. Baijiu stocks rallied in the afternoon, led by Jinhui Liquor (limit-up), Gujing Gong Jiu, Luzhou Laojiao and Shanxi Fenjiu. Grain and dairy plays firmed, with Yalian Development, Denghai Seed, Tianhong and Sunshine Dairy among movers. Real estate swung sharply: Shenzhen Property A reversed from intraday lows to hit the daily limit, while Lujiazui and Zhongtian Service reached their limits. Semiconductor-related groups lagged—storage chips, MLCC, PCB and CPO themes were weak—with Aohong Electronics and Xiehe Electronics at limit-down.
