INSEE said France’s inflation accelerated to 3.4% in September from 2.6% in
August, above economists’ 3.2% forecast. Energy prices rose 21.2% YoY and remain
the main driver; services inflation climbed to 2.2% from 1.9% and food inflation
to 1.5% from 1.1%, led by fresh produce. As the eurozone’s second-largest
economy, the faster inflation pace increases pressure on the ECB to continue
raising rates.
