Sept. 28, 2026 — The inaugural meeting of the China-Canada Economic and Trade Joint Committee investment working group was held in Ottawa, co‑chaired by China’s chief trade negotiator and vice minister of commerce Li Chenggang and Canada’s deputy minister of international trade. Officials discussed enhancing investment-policy communication, improving the investment environment and expanding two-way investment. Li said the leaders’ January summit provided strategic guidance for bilateral ties and pledged China would work with Canada to create a fair, open, transparent, non-discriminatory and predictable business environment to advance new investment cooperation outcomes.
