New orders rose at the fastest pace since early 2022, helped by exports, which posted their strongest growth in over four-and-a-half years; the output subindex climbed to 53.6, a 55-month high, lifting business confidence to its highest since February. Input and output price inflation accelerated in September, signalling rising inflationary pressure; official data due Friday are expected to show headline inflation rising to 3.6% from 3.2% in August, the highest since September 2023.
