The minutes flagged financial conditions—noting corporate behaviour and asset prices—as a key determinant of future policy, implying the BOJ could avoid relying solely on the policy rate when deciding further tightening. OIS price roughly a 20% chance of an October hike and an 82% chance of a December move.

On Oct. 1 the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said its latest crop update shows China's autumn grain harvest has exceeded 20%. Regional progress: southwest 65%, middle- and lower-Yangtze over 40%, Huang-Huai-Hai about 20%, northwest about 30%, and only sporadic harvesting in the northeast.
