China’s National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) published
classification codes and medical-insurance common names for seven implantable
consumable categories — neurointerventional and neurosurgical implants,
structural heart and cardiac surgery, patches, dental, ophthalmic, vascular
embolisation, and suture/coagulation materials. After expert review, public
consultation and industry engagement, the NHSA established 136 insurance common
names, streamlined classifications and material descriptors, and filled
coding/name gaps for innovative consumables. The NHSA said it will continue
revising other consumable categories; the standardisation is intended to support
higher-quality development of China’s medical consumables industry and clarify
reimbursement/identification for procurement and insurers.
