On the 4th, Iran’s parliament speaker Ghalibaf said Washington has recently made
proposals via intermediaries and is in a state of despair in the face of Iran’s
firm stance. He said the era of imposing unilateral demands through a war of
attrition is over. Iran’s position is clear: the Strait of Hormuz will not
reopen until seven conditions set out in the Islamabad memorandum of
understanding are satisfied. U.S. President Trump on the 2nd said the conflict
with Iran would "end soon" and that Iran would "never have nuclear weapons."
