Israeli military said on Oct. 4 Chief of General Staff Zamir chaired a senior
commanders’ meeting and that the force is drawing lessons from the Oct. 7, 2023
attacks. Future military strategy will prioritize preventing sudden war and
include a comprehensive expansion of forces. Zamir said a core lesson is the
need to expand Israel’s security perimeter, and that, given limited strategic
depth and “multi‑front threats,” the army must grow to meet widening operational
tasks. He said the military is building a new strategy centered on constant
readiness to respond to surprise war and neutralize threats at an early stage.
