On Oct. 4 the Saudi-led coalition said it will continue to provide full
operational support to the Yemeni government and armed forces to restore state
authority. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki accused the Houthis of
deliberate, systematic attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in
Riyadh and other cities, and said the group attempted strikes on Mecca and
Medina and on Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb. He said
the coalition will take necessary measures to curb Houthi hostility, safeguard
Saudi security and sovereignty, and conduct operations to remove threats to
navigation in the southern Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb, noting such threats
endanger regional and international security, international trade and the global
economy.
